Thanks to our donors, work has begun on our library project. They have been plastering the walls, have put in the door and window frames, and are planning to pour the floor soon. Pictures of the work in progress are up on the Library Project page. Thank you to everyone who gave to make it possible to start this project. We are still nearly $8,000 short of our goal for the project, however. You can help by donating online.
Kornel Mbele coming to the U.S.!!!!
Exciting news from Tanzania!
One of the students we are looking to sponsor, Kornel Mbele, was recently chosen as one of five students to represent Tanzania in a Youth Leadership program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy. They will join fifteen other students from Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. They will meet in the U.S. for one month for youth leadership and community development training. This is very exciting news for Kornel who has only been to the capital city of Dar es Salaam twice (on the same school field trip) and has very rarely left the remote rural community where he lives. Darker look at development

A darker Paul Theroux (former Peace Corps volunteer) take on development. A solid reminder on how important it is to view the stakeholders and outcome of a development project and avoid becoming “Jellybellys.”
